    Good set.. I’ve never been able to get such lighting at Nandi hills. Always have shutter speed around 1/30s.

      Thanks Sandeep, you are right the first photo of the Robin was shot at 1/80s 400 ISO & second one at same speed but at whooping 1600 ISO..

    Awesome pictures. I once went till Madhugiri Fort specifically to see the Jain Temple. A small temple with a single Jain Family in town. Next time I can plan a longer trip.

    This is a fantastic site,I have seen all the photos from the gallery and the comments from others who have been with your group and all the demo cathing the king cobra which is just superb.I have traveled about 25times to India from Malaysia,been to many bird sanctuaries,stayed at forest lodges,and i am so appointed that I have missed the right people that’s you two gauri shanker and shreeram. ME hanging around in Bangalore lalbarg,went to a supposed to be a well known tour operator ,and booked an expensive trip to a tiger reserve only to find some spotted dears,and wild dogs and a few feather drooped off peacocks.Anyway it could have been a bad season..if i and many of my birding and wild life ,photographic friends visit India its a definite that we will contact you and leave the rest to you as I know how efficient and genuine you are organizing these trips.Its definitely an excellent contact.I also post some photos at http://gsjeevi/photos/smugmug.com and also at flickers.I will leave to Australia Melbourne,next week for a month long visit and tell them of your site,as there is an annual photographic exhibition at Ballorat,which i have been before and hoping to seeing it again.Thank You keep up the good work.Well done my Indian Friends.

    I am looking for options to stay overnight near Jayamangali,
    When I called the RFO today, I was told that no more bookings are made at the guest house room because of the water problems.

    What other options are available to stay at Jayamangali ? Please let me know if anyone knows.

    Beautiful pictures and birds. I was almost there as I was in Chiang Mai the last two weeks. However, I plan to come back on 15th December and will surely visit the place a s do some birding. Can you suggest a medium range hotel to stay for birding? Did you come form India or do you live around. I live in Gurgaon but I come to Thailand often as I work in Laos. If you happen to come again, let me know. We could jointly go for birding.

    I visited TG halli last year in Feb-2012 and spotted few bar headed geese there.
    Would like to see them this year too. Planning to go again on first week of Feb. Is this the right time?

      Thankyou… You could plan this week as its the right time & we saw more than 75 species of birds in a single day. Its at its best now. Yes the bar headed geese was seen on 13th Jan 2013.

    I recently found 2 of them inside my house.. I taught they wer earthworms . But the movement like a snake shocked me. When I read about them I was relaxed as they are harmless and feed on ant eggs

      Hi Guru.
      Nearest bustop is Agumbe & nearest Railway Station is Shimoga.
      If you are travelling from bangalore a late night bus of KSRTC’s Rajahamsa is there & it will reach agumbe by morning 7am.
      Best time would be during monsoon season. June to September.

    The pictures are good, photographing insects in natural habitat is difficult, and i appreciate your interest, some of these should have been shot from a dfferent angle so that one can make out clearly what they are, but i know it is difficult and not as easy as making a comment . the picture of “colourful hopper in defensive ..” needs a correction of the legend. it is a fulgorid bug a relative of the cicada, similarly the tree hopper is called a flatid bug.

    I am planning to visit Jayamangali by tomorrow, 28th June. I am looking for options to stay overnight near Jayamangali, When I tried reaching the RFO today, but the numbers were not working. Please let me know what other options are available to stay at Jayamangali !!!

      I am afraid there aren’t any options to stay overnight. FD has stopped this facility long back.
      Nearest & safest would be Tumkur, If you come across any nearby during your visit please let me knw & i would love to include that info here.

    Wow! Superb pics. Its amazing that I live(d) in Guwahati and yet I never visited Pobitora. Always took it to be a poor cousin of Kaziranga. Must visit it this when I go home. But sadly, there is rampant rhino poaching in Pobitora. That title of ‘highest density’ wont stay for long.
