Just read this post on JLR Training Program and am very much interested. What were the fees and how the stay was there? Enjoyed reading your post and look forward to going for this program! 🙂
Hi I am planning to visit this place some time in February for a photography trip. I have read at places that many times the safari jeeps are not available because of excess demands.
Did you advance book your safaris and is there any site where you can do the same? Any information on this will he helpful.
Thanks Krups.. yes every bit of thing in agumbe is a perl & well to names , bit of search on net, or getting help from friends who are good in respective subjects & sometimes fieldguides.. 🙂
Ohh that’s very informative! I too have seen these at home and wondered what it was, seeing its snake-like behavior… Now i know a name to associate it with! Thanks!
Saandip after going through the short writeup of Bandipur visit along with photos it is so lovely, we feel as if we are in the Jungle. Mine its a first visit and its a Memorable Trip. Love to visit the place once again.

Sandeepa : Fantastic photos of beautiful place!! never heard about this place!! it’s time for your to enroll yourself in photography contest. Keep up the good work/hobby!!!
Awesome pictures. I once went till Madhugiri Fort specifically to see the Jain Temple. A small temple with a single Jain Family in town. Next time I can plan a longer trip.
Hi Sandip, beautiful shots. I loved the way the majesty of these birds has been captured. I would like to get in touch and learn a lot of bird behaviour. Although I carry a DSLR, I am more of a wild-life enthusiast first and a photgrapher second. 🙂

This is a fantastic site,I have seen all the photos from the gallery and the comments from others who have been with your group and all the demo cathing the king cobra which is just superb.I have traveled about 25times to India from Malaysia, been to many bird sanctuaries, stayed at forest lodges, and i am so appointed that I have missed the right people that’s you two gauri shanker and shreeram. ME hanging around in Bangalore lalbarg, went to a supposed to be a well known tour operator ,and booked an expensive trip to a tiger reserve only to find some spotted dears, and wild dogs and a few feather drooped off peacocks.Anyway it could have been a bad season..if i and many of my birding and wild life ,photographic friends visit India its a definite that we will contact you and leave the rest to you as I know how efficient and genuine you are organizing these trips. Its definitely an excellent contact.I also post some photos at http://gsjeevi/photos/smugmug.com and also at flickers.I will leave to Australia Melbourne, next week for a month long visit and tell them of your site,as there is an annual photographic exhibition at Ballorat, which i have been before and hoping to seeing it again.Thank You keep up the good work.Well done my Indian Friends.
I am planning to visit Jayamangali/Maidenahalli soon.
I am looking for options to stay overnight near Jayamangali,
When I called the RFO today, I was told that no more bookings are made at the guest house room because of the water problems.
What other options are available to stay at Jayamangali ? Please let me know if anyone knows.
Beautiful pictures and birds. I was almost there as I was in Chiang Mai the last two weeks. However, I plan to come back on 15th December and will surely visit the place a s do some birding. Can you suggest a medium range hotel to stay for birding? Did you come form India or do you live around. I live in Gurgaon but I come to Thailand often as I work in Laos. If you happen to come again, let me know. We could jointly go for birding.
Best regards
Surinder
Thanks for dropping by & i am glad you liked my photos. I had visited Thailand particularly for bird photography, you could try Mr.Deang place in Doi Inthanon & Banmaka Near Keang Krachan NP.
If i am visting Thailand again will drop a mail well in advance.

Lovely pictures you have here of Gulakmale. We went there last weekend but the lake was almost drying up. Didn’t see too many birds also, or maybe just our luck. I have written about it in my blog http://myworldfoodandtravel.blogspot.in/search/label/birding. Did you check out the falls in your subsequent trips?
Hi..
Thanks 🙂 . Glad you liked the pictures. you have a nice blog, I dint get a chance to go agin maybe i will visit in coming Jan..
Why is it dried totally now ??
Hi Saandip…Nice pictures.
I visited TG halli last year in Feb-2012 and spotted few bar headed geese there.
Would like to see them this year too. Planning to go again on first week of Feb. Is this the right time?
The image of bar headed geese posted in the blog is taken in Jan-2013?
Please suggest.
Thanks,
Shashwat
Hi Shashwat.
Thankyou… You could plan this week as its the right time & we saw more than 75 species of birds in a single day. Its at its best now. Yes the bar headed geese was seen on 13th Jan 2013.
Hi, I am a student of communication studies. I want to make a documentary on snakes (about snake bites and other facts).
I’d be grateful if you’d be willing to help.

Beautiful pics Saandip.. will surly meet up with you to learn some tips and tricks 🙂 need to also understand the lenses and post production techniques u use 🙂
Hope you are sending this to Nat Geo lonely planet.. 🙂
I recently found 2 of them inside my house.. I taught they wer earthworms . But the movement like a snake shocked me. When I read about them I was relaxed as they are harmless and feed on ant eggs
Nice information……any specific season or time to visit…..this place……..I see u visited during December…….saw your article just now and I feel like going there for birding/photography……suggest me the best time to visit……thank you………..girish
Hi Guru.
Nearest bustop is Agumbe & nearest Railway Station is Shimoga.
If you are travelling from bangalore a late night bus of KSRTC’s Rajahamsa is there & it will reach agumbe by morning 7am.
Best time would be during monsoon season. June to September.
The pictures are good, photographing insects in natural habitat is difficult, and i appreciate your interest, some of these should have been shot from a dfferent angle so that one can make out clearly what they are, but i know it is difficult and not as easy as making a comment . the picture of “colourful hopper in defensive ..” needs a correction of the legend. it is a fulgorid bug a relative of the cicada, similarly the tree hopper is called a flatid bug.
Thanks Mallik for dropping by & leaving a comment. Glad you liked the pics. I know what you meant, as i will be in agumbe during July 2013 will keep in mind these point & hopefully comeup with some good images. Thanks for Idying .. will change in due time.
Thanks Again 🙂
I am planning to visit Jayamangali by tomorrow, 28th June. I am looking for options to stay overnight near Jayamangali, When I tried reaching the RFO today, but the numbers were not working. Please let me know what other options are available to stay at Jayamangali !!!
Hi Doyeli.
I am afraid there aren’t any options to stay overnight. FD has stopped this facility long back.
Nearest & safest would be Tumkur, If you come across any nearby during your visit please let me knw & i would love to include that info here.
Beautiful pictures Saandip! I’m curious to learn what gear you use to capture these amazing moments and life-like headshots of the birds. Do you think this month is a good time to visit this place?
Beautiful clicks. Did you get the migratory ducks? We had visited the area early this year but they had already left. It’s a pity that most of the wetlands all around the country are turning into dumpyards. Very soon there will be no Deepor Beel.
Wow! Superb pics. Its amazing that I live(d) in Guwahati and yet I never visited Pobitora. Always took it to be a poor cousin of Kaziranga. Must visit it this when I go home. But sadly, there is rampant rhino poaching in Pobitora. That title of ‘highest density’ wont stay for long.
Good work guys my house is just few km away from this place, i heard about this place but i never seen this beauty thank you for documenting appreciate it
I would like to ask your permission to use your photo of the tusker for the front cover of a leaflet for a national park. The leaflet will be used to educate the public about the park and conservation. Please let me know if you’d be willing to let me use the image.
Dear Laurene.
Thanks for writing, You can use the image & please send a snapshot of the book with front cover ..
Let me know for any further help required..
Cheers
Sandipji, excellent photos. Sir, this place appears so beautiful.
We are visiting Bangluru onb 29 January with group of 25 students of Maharshi Dayanand College, Mumbai.and two days with us before we proceed to Nagarhole. Would you suggest this place to take students for birding. Is it good season? or hebbel lake? Kindly suggest.
Dear Saandip
I would like to use your photo of Indian Pipistrelle for a section on diet of owls which I am writing. Please let me know if I can use the photo.
Thank you.

Beautiful clicks. Did you get the migratory ducks? We had visited the area early this year but they had already left. It’s a pity that most of the wetlands all around the country are turning into dumpyards. Very soon there will be no Deepor Beel.
Hi.Thanks for dropping by.
No we dint get the ducks.. Aptly said it the situation every where.. 🙁
Thanks.. you should visit it once 😀 .. read it in newspapers about a month & half on a rhino being poached. sad state in future..
